$1,500 to $2,000

Apple is gearing up to release a more affordable headset, codenamed N107, by the end of 2025. This new device aims to be a budget-friendly alternative to the Vision Pro, which was unveiled last year. However, achieving the $1500 price point while maintaining key features presents significant challenges for Apple.

To cut costs, Apple might eliminate the EyeSight display, downgrade the internal VR screens, use a less powerful chip, and reduce the quality of AR passthrough visuals. These changes could lead to a less immersive experience compared to the Vision Pro. Despite the $1500 price tag, the N107 would still be significantly more expensive than rival devices from Meta Platforms Inc., which could make it a tough sell.

Prototypes of the N107 show a narrower field of view, and Apple is considering making it dependent on a tethered Mac or iPhone to reduce costs associated with standalone processing power.

+1000 Spiders

A severe bug in the Apple Vision Pro headset, discovered by tech expert Ryan Pickren, allowed hackers to flood users' virtual reality environments with spiders, bats, and other terrifying creatures by visiting malicious websites in Safari. This vulnerability required no user interaction and created highly disturbing experiences, with virtual pests that couldn't be removed by simply closing the browser. Fortunately, Apple has since fixed the issue, ensuring users' augmented reality remains safe from such intrusions.
